A new blog book

Look what I made!

I'm so thrilled with these blog books. I started writing my first blog just over seven years ago now (seven years, really??). I had no idea how long I'd last, I just wanted to keep track of what I was doing in the garden. Very quickly, I broadened out and started waffling on about all manner of things. I was hooked.

I've changed blogs twice since then, but never stopped taking pictures and writing about everyday life, things I've made, places I've been. I've wandered off every now and again, but never for more than a couple of weeks at a time. I look back at what I've written quite often, and it makes me smile.

A couple of years ago, I saw pictures of a book someone had made using posts from their blog, and decided to do the same thing. The first year took a long time, and I made several mistakes. For the second year, I used Blurb software, which was a LOT quicker, and looked a lot more professional.

Now I've finished the third year. For this third book, I used Blurb again, but made more use of the template pages to make some of the pictures bigger. I like it.

It's got more of a photobook feel about it, which I'm quite taken with. We so rarely print off photographs these days, it's nice to have something tangible to hold.

I've now printed off all of my original blog, and I'm not sure what to do next. I switched to a Wordpress blog for my fourth year, and Wordpress isn't supported by Blurb in the same way, meaning I won't be able to use the same software.

So far I've been making one of these a year. Which means I'm five years behind myself, and never going to catch up.

Hmm, might try and do a couple of extra books this year...

What a lovely idea, and great way to preserve memories. I've often mulled over the thought that there will be fewer letters, diaries and the like for future generations to discover, this is a good way of having the best of both worlds!

How lovely. In fact it was partly due to you that I got my blog started. I had seen that you had made a previous blog into a book and since that is what I want to do later I got off my backside and actually started. I love your blog. And congratulations on the new job. Anna

What a lovely idea!
I've made these type of photo books for special trips and holidays as gifts to others, but never one for myself. Maybe that should change.
Thanks for sharing!
